The Audi R8 is ready for 24 hours of Nurbrurgring

To counter the excessive power of Shelby Cobra nell’America of the’60s, the designer Bill Thomas created the Cheetah, with Chevrolet engines. The project unfortunately ended early with the fire of the factory and the realization of only 23 copies (estimated), now considered collectors’ pieces.
The project was simple: big V8 engine from 520Cv, four independent suspensions, weight ratio power very favorable and equitable distribution of weights, thanks to fiberglass bodywork. The car was very promising and in 1964 was capable of out of the performance, as evidenced by 1.18gi lateral acceleration, value unthinkable for the time and the maximum speed of nearly 300 km / h.
Today the Cheetah lives again thanks to the project “Cheetah Continuation Collectible” in collaboration with the BTM LCC, a company of Arizona which took over rights by Thomas to produce the Cheetah. This is not a replica, but a new beginning of production. Will be undertaken coupè and spiders and a road version coupè competition. The options of mechanical and finishing are many and a coupè road has a price starting at about $ 100,000, with a long waiting list.
